1 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood,
saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship
there.
John is given a stick and told to
measure the temple of YHWH, and the altar.
This is very interesting
considering what we have read in Ezekiel.
Ezekiel 40:2-3
In the visions of God He took me into the land of Israel and set me on
a very high mountain; on it toward the south was something like the structure
of a city. He took me there, and behold, there was a man whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze. He had a line of flax and a measuring rod in his
hand, and he stood in the gateway.
Now if we continue reading this,
we see all the things which are measured and shown to Ezekiel.
2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not
measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy
city underfoot for forty-two months.
John is not to measure the court
outside the temple. The Gentiles are permitted to be in this area for three and
a half years.
3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one
thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
The two witnesses with prophecy
for three and a half years, all while be clothes in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees
and the two lampstands standing
before the God of the earth.
Zechariah prophesied about the
olive trees and lampstand as well.
Zechariah 4:1-19
Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who
is wakened out of his sleep. And he said to me, “What do you see?” So I said,
“I am looking, and there is a lampstand
of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven
pipes to the seven lamps. Two olive
trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.”
So I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, “What are
these, my lord?”
Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, “Do you not
know what these are?”
And I said, “No, my lord.”
So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but
by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.
‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a
plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of “Grace, grace to
it!” ’ ” Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “The hands of Zerubbabel Have laid the foundation of this temple;
His hands shall also finish it. Then you will know That the Lord of hosts has
sent Me to you.
For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice
to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the Lord,
Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.”
Then I answered and said to him, “What
are these two olive trees—at the right of the lampstand and at its left?”
And I further answered and said to him, “What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles of the two gold
pipes from which the golden oil drains?”
Then he answered me and said, “Do you not know what these are?” And I
said, “No, my lord.”
So he said, “These are the two anointed
ones, who stand beside the Lord of
the whole earth.”
5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and
devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in
this manner.
Anyone wanting to harm the two
witnesses will have to deal with major consequences. They must be killed by
fire.
6 These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of
their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to
strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.
These two witnesses can cause the
rain to stop during their full time of prophesying. They can turn water into
blood, and cause plagues upon the whole earth.
7 When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the
bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them.
Once they conclude their predetermined
time, the beast will kill them. This is the Antichrist, or false prophet.
8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which
spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
After they are killed, their
bodies lay in the streets of Jerusalem. One must ask himself, why is Jerusalem
spiritually known as Sodom, and Egypt?
9 Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see
their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be
put into graves.
The people of Jerusalem and surrounding
nations will not allow the bodies to be buried.
10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry,
and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who
dwell on the earth.
The people of earth will be happy
about the death of these men, likely because they brought plagues and drought.
Men will celebrate the deaths.
11 Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God
entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who
saw them.
But, these men receive the breath
of God and the reawake, defying death. All the men of the earth are struck with
fear.
12 And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up
here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them.
After they are raised from the
dead, they are taken up to heaven in a cloud. All the enemies of YHWH witness
this event.
13 In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the
city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest
were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.
During the same hour the two
witnesses were taken up, the earth quaked and one tenth of Jerusalem fell.
Seven thousand people died. Because of this, the rest of the city gave glory to
YHWH.
14 The second woe is past. Behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
The ascension of the two
witnesses and the fall of Jerusalem completes the second woe. This is evidence
each of the trumpets take a while to be fulfilled.
15 Then the seventh angel
sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of
this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall
reign forever and ever!”
We finally come to the last angel
blowing the last trumpet. At this trumpet, the world is taken back by YHWH and
the Messiah.
16 And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell
on their faces and worshiped God, saying: “We give You thanks, O Lord God
Almighty, The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken
Your great power and reigned.
Yeshua has not yet returned to
earth even at this point. If Yeshua is the one who is, and who was, and who is
to come, we have to conclude He has not come any time before the blowing of the
seventh trumpet.
18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the
dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the
prophets and the saints, And those who fear
Your name, small and great, And
should destroy those who destroy the earth.”
This upsets the nations of the
world, YHWH’s wrath had come. The time for the dead to be judged is now, and
those who destroyed the earth are destroyed now. Rewards are given to those who
had fear of YHWH.
Matthew 25:31-336
“When the Son of Man comes in
His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne
of His glory. All the nations will be
gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a
shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right
hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was
thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked
and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came
to Me.’
19 Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.
At this time, John saw YHWH’s
temple open and inside he saw the ark of the Covenant. Thunder and lightning,
an earthquake and large hail all began.
