The Mark of the Beast

Most people have heard about, or have a general idea of what the mark of the beast is. It has been said recently that this mark could be the radio frequency identification (RFID) chip. This chip is said to have the ability to track a person’s personal medical information, location, bank account, address, family information, and job status. This chip is also supposed to be implanted under the skin of the wrist or hand. I can see how the idea of this chip is meant for well, but I do not like that there is so much information contained in one small piece of technology. Either way, I personally do not think that the RFID chip is the mark of the beast mentioned in the Book of Revelation.

-          Revelation 13: 16-27

¹⁶ He required everyone—small and great, rich and poor, free and slave—to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. ¹⁷ And no one could buy or sell anything without that mark, which was either the name of the beast or the number representing his name. 

            This mark will be given to everyone, including children and the elderly. Just because this is required does not mean everyone must accept it. There will most likely be underground revolution type groups of people that refuse to accept this mark. It must be possible to deny this mark because Christ tells us to endure until the end. The next verse claims you need this mark in order to live. Nobody can live if they cannot buy food to eat or sell anything in order to obtain the finances for food, shelter, and clothing. In order for this mark to be effective in the way this is stated, there must be some type of system that recognizes or scans the wrist or forehead when trying to purchase or sell anything. I personally think this mark will have a more visually recognizable look. Because the Book of Revelation states that anyone that accepts this mark will no longer be redeemable, there must be some kind of a genetic effect. Something must change who we are, or strip our soul from us. I feel that if it were the RFID chip, we could just pluck it out of our hand. However, I could see it being the RFID chip, if it were given the ability to change human DNA once inserted. Dr. Roger Leir has done research on an implant removed from a man that claimed to be abducted by aliens. He made claims that these implants were changing their host’s DNA. That being said, combining the RFID chips with whatever technology is present in the “alien implants” sounds to me like a conceivable possibility for what we have come to know as the mark of the beast.  

-          Revelation 14: 9-11

⁹ Then a third angel followed them, shouting, “Anyone who worships the beast and his statue or who accepts his mark on the forehead or on the hand¹⁰ must drink the wine of God’s anger. It has been poured full strength into God’s cup of wrath. And they will be tormented with fire and burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb. ¹¹ The smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever, and they will have no relief day or night, for they have worshiped the beast and his statue and have accepted the mark of his name.”

Accepting the mark automatically puts your name on the list of those that must suffer the wrath of God that is not intended for His people. Accepting the mark of the beast will not only force a man to endure the wrath of God, but also sentence that man to an eternity of “torment” in the fiery pits of Hell. All those that accept the mark and worship the beast and his image, are those that never had their name written in the book of life from the foundation of the earth. This causes me to wonder if these people are all somehow offspring of Satan? When speaking to the serpent, also known as Satan, in the Garden of Eden, YHWH has this to say…

-          Genesis 3: 15

¹⁵ And I will cause hostility between you and the woman,
    and between your offspring and her offspring.
He will strike your head,
    and you will strike his heel.”

            We can be sure based on this statement that Satan does have offspring. We can also bet that the antichrist will be one of these offspring considering Jesus is the “Son of Man” which makes him by default the offspring of the women mentioned above. He is the one who will strike the head of the serpent. So again I wonder, at the time the mark is presented, will all those that are not from the seed of Satan be able to hide, or be killed by standing firm in their belief in Christ?

-          Revelation 20: 4

And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

This verse is John in spirit form in Heaven. All those that stood up for the name of Christ and held to the word of God, and those that kept preaching His word had been killed. This is saying that if a man does not accept the mark and he does not worship the image of the beast, then that man will be killed, presumably by having his head cut off. However, the verse ends with salvation. All those that did not accept the mark or worship the beast will reign in paradise with Christ for the following 1000 years.

-          Revelation 9: 6

⁶ In those days people will seek death but will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them!

            During the last days, presumably after accepting the mark, men will wish to die, but not have the ability. Could this be a result of their altered DNA caused by the mark? At this point of Revelation, this occurs during the fifth seal. From what I can tell, this seal is close to the end of the tribulation period. Therefore, leads me to believe this wishing for death, but not being able to find it, happens after the mark of the beast is required to be taken.

-          Revelation 16: 2

² So the first angel left the Temple and poured out his bowl on the earth, and horrible, malignant sores broke out on everyone who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his statue.

Once the rapture has taken place, ALL those that had accepted the mark of the beast will develop horrible sores. These sores are very painful and severe. Luckily, for all the believers, they will be gone by this point. Either they will have been martyred in the name of Christ, or caught up to the clouds with Christ himself.

This mark, whether it be the RFID chip or some form of DNA manipulation will be presented in a way that many people will want it. It may come in the form of an illness free life, or possibly a longer life span. Taking this mark will seem like the smart thing to do. It will be pushed by a strong governmental backing, so much so that it will be made into a law. The mark of the beast will change who you are. Our best bet, considering we really do not know what it will look like other than it will bear the name or number of the beast, is to not allow anything foreign into or onto our bodies, especially or right hand or forehead.
