Ephesians Chapter 3 Breakdown

For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ), which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel, of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.

The reason is both Jews and Gentiles are now one together making up the body of Christ. Paul is the administrator of the grace of YHWH for the gentiles. It was through a revelation YHWH made known to Paul the mystery, that is how the lost sheep of the House of Israel a.k.a. the gentiles, would be brought back to YHWH. Earlier ages did not understand this mystery. The mystery has been revealed to the Apostles and prophets by the Holy Spirit. Paul then says right here what the mystery is and that is “that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel”. We know there is more to this than simply saying gentiles are now allowed to come to YHWH. Gentiles always had a way to come to YHWH. There is really only one particular group of people who were disallowed, and it was because of this group of people that Jews made the oral traditional law to not allow association with any gentiles. That particular group of people was the Northern Kingdom of the House of Israel. They had been divorced by YHWH and scattered among the rest of the gentile nations. According to YHWH’s own Law, once a wife is divorced and has become defiles, she can never be taken back by the first husband. This is the mystery in which Paul is talking about.

8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

It was bestowed upon Paul the grace to teach the gentiles about this mystery. He is supposed to make all see “what is the fellowship of the mystery,” which is both the Jews and the lost sheep of the House of Israel. Everyone is supposed to know and understand YHWH’s intent and wisdom of this mystery. YHWH accomplished this mystery through the death of Yeshua, who was YHWH made flesh. The divorced wife can now return to YHWH because the first husband has died, releasing her from the binding marriage covenant.

13 Therefore I ask that you do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

Believers should not become discouraged by tribulations.

14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Paul wants YHWH to grant all believers to be strengthened with the Holy Spirit and having Christ dwell within their hearts through faith.  All believers should be rooted and grounded in love, Torah is love. Believers should know the love of Christ. Consider this, YHWH married all of Israel. Israel split within itself forming both the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the Southern Kingdom of Judah. YHWH divorced the Northern Kingdom due to her continuous unfaithfulness, meaning continual worship of other gods. But, He loved her so much, he became flesh, inserted Himself within His own creation in order to die for her. It was His death that allowed her to return to Him by releasing her from that original binding covenant. Have you ever wondered why He had to die?

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

YHWH is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask, we give Him glory in the church.
